In the perpetual PC and console wars, the former has come out with yet another victory. It turns out that Capcom, one of the biggest names in the gaming industry, made the majority of its digital sales on PC, and the difference is by no means small. It has been over a month since corporate fiscal years came to a close, and companies are revealing how their year went and how they expect things to move forward.
Most recently, we saw Nintendo claiming that it expects the Switch 2 to outsell the Switch 1 in the first 12 months of its release, predicting a similar amount of sales in a short amount of time. Capcom doesn’t have any hardware sales to show off, so let’s instead focus on digital game sales.
Capcom recently released the results of their Fiscal year 2024, and starting from FY23, PC has been taking over the console sales, and now the difference has increased to a 60:40 ratio, with PC making 60% of the total sales.
To be more precise, 28.211 million games were sold on PC while 19.517 million copies were sold on console. For comparison, in FY23, PC sales were 52%, so in one year, Capcom managed to increase PC sales by 8%. We’ve seen Capcom release a number of popular titles to PC recently, one of which was Monster Hunter Wilds, which broke 1 million players soon after launch.

For FY26, Capcom plans on continuing to target 10% OP growth, and with the focus on digital game copies and targeting PC platforms for sales, it seems like it is well on its way to achieving that.
