Ever since I started reporting on digital comics for The Beat over the past few weeks, I’ve learned one thing: GlobalComix rocks. Just last week, they announced they’d be adding the entire IDW library (which goes live today!), and the week before that, it was Archie Comics jumping aboard. Add that to an already stacked lineup featuring DC Comics, Vault, and Dark Horse, and you’ve got over 100,000 comics available in one place.
In a true industry first, IDW Publishing’s new releases are now available on GlobalComix the same day they hit comic book stores. This marks the first time a major American publisher has offered day-and-date digital access on a subscription service.
GlobalComix is already a big deal, and now it’s gotten even better. Alongside this announcement comes a major update to GlobalComix Gold’s pricing, making access more affordable than ever. The premium membership now costs $6.99 per month (down from $7.99 on the web and $9.99 in-app), or $69 annually (reduced from $89.99 on the web and $109.99 in-app). What. A. Deal.
Starting today, GlobalComix Gold members can now read 176 titles from IDW, including beloved franchises like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Sonic the Hedgehog, Star Trek, Godzilla, and My Little Pony. The massive content drop includes single issues, volumes, and trades, with all future IDW releases now joining the service day-and-date.
“This is more than a price drop—it’s a commitment to making world-class comics accessible to everyone,” said Christopher Carter, CEO and Co-Founder of GlobalComix, in a statement. “With day-and-date releases from IDW now part of Gold, we’re transforming what it means to be a member. Readers aren’t just getting incredible value—they’re joining a movement to reimagine how comics are experienced in the digital age.”
Beyond the subscription model, all day-and-date IDW titles are also available for single-book purchases, including twelve titles from the publisher’s acclaimed Top Shelf Productions imprint.
Every new addition to GlobalComix marks another win for digital comics. And this new collaboration with IDW, paired with the immediate availability of new releases and a lowered subscription price, sets a new high for GlobalComix. Now I wonder, how will they possibly top this next?
With today’s move, fans of IDW’s biggest franchises can now dive into new issues on GlobalComix Gold the moment they’re released in stores. All for less than the price of a single physical comic.
