goo.gl is Google's URL shortener. It will shut down on 2025-08-25.

Shutdown timeline

• 2018-03-30: Google announces the deprecation of goo.gl and the transition to a new platform (Firebase Dynamic Links).^[1]
• 2018-04-13: Anonymous users and people who haven't used the shortener before can no longer create new shortlinks.^[1]
• 2019-03-30: No new shortlinks can be created anymore. Existing shortlinks continue to resolve.^[1]
• 2024-07-18: The timeline for full shutdown is announced.^[2]
• 2024-08-23: An interstitial page is beginning to roll out, warning users that the links will be broken in the future.^[2]
• 2025-08-25: The service will be shut down.^[2]
