This is a port of a "Virtual Google Search Appliance" from another internet archive upload https://archive.org/download/vgsa_20090210 however this one has some key differences(!)
1. This version runs in PROMOX. If you want to use VMware Workstation, go download the other one.
2. Due to how incredibly cut-down Google made this VM I had to take some liberties to make it boot on anything else. Specifically there's a "boot hard disk" of a Debian 5.0 VM. GRUB was modified to take the Debian kernel and point it at the Google Search Appliance rootfs to enable access to Proxmox drivers and SMP (multi-core) support for better performance.
3. The VM was configured to run on Compu-Global-Hyper-Mega-Net. So once it boots you'll either want to change it back to DHCP or configure it to your own network IP as appropriate
4. This VM is VERY OLD with most of its software dated back to 2008. The license already says this is NOT for production systems, only testing. But seriously don't put this on the real internet! I'm not responsible if anything explodes :)
Once it boots up you can log in on the designated IP with the username admin and the password retro123
Example images of the system running are also included
