Harsh Goenka shares the Rs 4000 crore-plus 'blow' Indians can give to Turkey and Azerbaijan for supporting Pakistan after Pahalgam attack

Billionaire

Harsh Goenka

has asked the Indian citizens to boycott traveling to Turkey and Azerbaijan as both the countries extended open support to Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack. In a post shared on social media platform Twitter (now known as X), the industrialist emphasised that Indian tourists contributed over Rs 4,000 crore to the economies of the two nations in 2024. Goenka said that it's time for Indian travellers to show their might and not support the economies of the countries that support our enemies.“Indians gave Rs 4,000+cr to Turkey & Azerbaijan last year through tourism. Created jobs. Boosted their economy, hotels, weddings, flights. Today, both stand with Pakistan after

Pahalgam attack

. Plenty of beautiful places in India & the world. Please skip these 2 places. Jai Hind,” wrote Goenka in a post shared on X.

Indian Travel industry joins Boycott Turkey, Azerbaijan call

Many

Indian travel companies

too have come out openly in support of ‘Boycott Turkey’ call, suspending bookings to Turkey and Azerbaijan. Travel companies Ixigo, EasyMyTrip and Cox & Kings have announced they would no longer offer travel packages to Turkey. Go Homestays said that it will end partnerships with Turkish accommodation providers.

“In solidarity with our nation, ixigo is suspending flight and hotel bookings for Turkey, Azerbaijan and China. Because when it comes to Bharat, we don’t think twice. Jai Hind,” posted ixigo on X.

“WE STAND WITH INDIA Sometimes, a pause becomes a necessity. In light of the current national sentiments, we’re putting a temporary hold on all new

travel to Azerbaijan

, Turkey, and Uzbekistan. Even though respect and understanding of the world remain at the heart of everything we do, while the nation waits, so will some of our journeys. #JaiHind #CoxAndKings,” posted Cox & Kings.

In a post on X, EaseMyTrip said, “Travel Advisory!!! Following the Pahalgam attack and escalating tensions between India & Pakistan, travellers are urged to stay aware. As Turkey & Azerbaijan have shown

support for Pakistan

, we strongly recommend visiting only if absolutely necessary. Stay informed. Travel responsibly. #TravelUpdate #EaseMyTrip.”

Travel booking platform, Pickyourtrail said, “We’ve paused all new travel to Turkey and Azerbaijan. When national interest is at stake, we stand with India. While we remain deeply respectful of all people and cultures, some journeys must wait. Jai Hind.”

“We are officially ending our partnership with Turkish Airlines due to their unsupportive stance towards India. Going forward, we will no longer include their flights in our international travel packages. Jai Hind,” posted Go Homestays on X.
