Lately I've been honing a different skill — learning to read code faster, to tell what's elegant, brittle, or just off.

Coding agents are getting insanely fast at writing code.

The lagging human skill is:

reading code — fast.
spotting elegant vs brittle — fast.
re-steering agents — fast.

Tinkering with great open-source projects sharpens that taste. It's the only training ground left with no AI slop in it.

Taste > Typing.

The rest? Just knowing what you actually want built.
