Lincoln Steampunk Festival

Experience four days of creativity, imagination and fun at the Lincoln Steampunk Festival - the largest and longest-running Steampunk event in the world!

Steampunk is an inclusive arts movement that reimagines our Victorian past adding in modern values and a splash of science fiction. It includes music, films, sculpture, literature, dance and of course, costuming. Lots and lots of costumes!

The Asylum Steampunk Festival is a highlight in Lincoln's events calendar, with thousands of people from across the world visiting the city over the August Bank Holiday weekend. For just four days, the historic streets of Lincoln become a Victorianesque world which owes as much to “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” and “Back to the Future” as Lincoln’s genuine and beautiful history.

“Weekend at the Asylum” takes its name from its first venue in the city, The Lawn, which was first built to be a lunatic asylum serving the city and county. Visitors can enjoy daytime entertainment, markets, parades and exhibitions around the Cathedral Quarter, followed by an evening of events at the Drill, Engine Shed, Blue Room and Assembly Rooms.

Whether you want to just wander around and marvel at the participants, or buy yourself a ticket for some of the 100+ features on offer, this is an event not to be missed!

Everyone is welcome - the street festival is totally free, but some venues may have admission charges. Costumes are not obligatory, but why not take this opportunity to really dress to impress?!

The 2025 Asylum Steampunk Festival will take place over the August Bank Holiday weekend, with events taking place from Thursday 21 - Monday 25 August.
