Rule 1: Read Before Posting
Everyone: Before posting, search r/MacApps and check the App Comparisons. Choose the correct flair. If Reddit removes your post, wait 24 hours before messaging mods.
App Developers: When multiple flairs apply, the preferred hierarchy is: Lifetime > Subscription > Free. AutoMod may remove posts from low-karma users. Participate in the community to fix this.
Rule 2: Official Distribution Channels Only
Any download links must use the publisher's official distribution source. This could be the Mac App Store or the publisher's own distribution platform.
Third-party sources (e.g. file hosting websites, blogs) are not permitted since they can be used to distribute malicious software.
Rule 3: Limited Self-Promotion
Infrequent self-promotion is permitted, however not more than once in ~30 days.
You must also disclose your relationship to the software in the comments.
Rule 4: Follow Reddit Rules
- We follow Reddit Rules without exception. Please familiarise yourself before posting or commenting.
Rule 5: No Redirect URLs
- Redirect URLs are not permitted as they can be used to distribute malicious software. This includes shortened URLs.
Rule 6: No Affiliate / Referral / Invite Links
- Affiliate, referral and invite links are not permitted since they attract spam and low-quality content.
Rule 7: No Piracy
- Digital piracy is not permitted in any form. Please note that the Reddit Content Policy also does not permit the posting of illegal content.
Rule 8: AI Generated Code
- Developers must disclose if there is a significant amount of AI-generated code in their app: If a developer has used AI to create most of the app's code and/or has not thoroughly reviewed or understood any part of it, they must include the [Vibe-Coded] flair to alert users to the risk.
