Seems like some people might develop hypertension from Creatine

I wanted to share my own anecdotal evidence that long-term creatine supplementation may raise blood pressure in some individuals. I have seen people share similar experiences on here but largely are ignored/downvoted on the basis that multiple studies suggest that creatine supplementation has no effect on blood pressure levels.

I am a 22 year old male, generally in good shape (4-5x a week weightlifting, running at least once a week) and have been for the past 8 years. I started taking creatine 5 years ago, at which I always had average healthy blood pressure at my yearly check-ups (120/80 ish). After 2 years of taking 5g a day, I was making huge progress in the gym, but noticed my blood pressure rise up to around 140/100. I kept taking it, not thinking the two things would be related. Fast forward another year and my blood pressure went up to a whopping 170/110, tested across multiple days/weeks and times of day. I stopped taking creatine for a year, and saw my blood pressure slowly drop back down to the 120/80 range. I also lost muscle mass during this time and was frustrated. This past year I have been taking only 1-2g a day in an effort to find a sweet spot where my performance is improved with creatine without raising my blood pressure. My current blood pressure is sitting around 140/90. I am likely about to drop creatine all together.

Obviously this should be taken with a grain of salt (or maybe not if you have high BP lol) as it is no controlled trial, but I hope adding to the discussion will help persuade nephrologists or others to further examine long-term (not just acute!) creatine supplementation impact on blood pressure and kidney function.
