The Six Elements

3 weeks ago 1

Fifteen years of experiments brought me here, to a framework for a good life, and an invitation to join the journey ahead.

I want to share with you a framework that contains all the reasons I believe I enjoy a good life (despite the annoying ups and downs). Maybe you’ll find it useful too.

It started as a business idea. I call it Lincoln Island, and it’s the result of almost fifteen years of exploration, one that started long before I understood what I was building. I think I found the single activity I want to do for the foreseeable future.

  • First, I’ll introduce the six elements that form this framework. Try to think about your activities and priorities while you read about them.

  • Then, I’ll tell you the Genesis of Lincoln Island, so you get the context of how it came to be.

  • And finally, I’ll extend an invitation — one that represents the main focus of my work and a bold decision that gives me, as Alan Watts would say, “the heebie-jeebies.”

If there is such a thing as a good life, I believe it rests on six foundations — six aspects we can develop daily:

  • Purpose — knowing what gives you the energy to lead your days.

  • Fearlessness — the practice of freedom.

  • Community — belonging and connecting.

  • Influence & Impact — deliberately sharing the best in us.

  • Adventure & Exploration — staying open to discovery and fun.

  • Tools & Technology — mastering the means to create with ease.

Just imagine — feeling on purpose, free, supported by others; being able to inspire by example, while enjoying nature, new places, and new people.

That is the ideal… that is what Lincoln Island wants to cultivate.

When these six elements are in balance, life feels whole.

We can spend years chasing success, peace, or meaning — but all along, what we’re really doing is balancing these six forces.

This framework is what I call Lincoln Island.

It’s not a theory. It’s something that revealed itself through years of lived experience and that famous persistence that is supposed to bring the best in us.

Every island has a story of creation.
Mine began long ago, with a book.

When I read The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne as a child, I was fascinated by how the Spanish version described the castaways: “los emprendedores.” Entrepreneurs.
To me, that word never meant business. It meant initiative, collaboration, and courage — the will to use knowledge to survive, to help, to create.

Years later, I tried to bring it to life through a series of journeys — real ones.
I organized trips where curious, open people who didn’t know each other would travel together toward a shared destination.

The idea was simple: if you put people with entrepreneurial spirit in a car, magic happens. And it did. The conversations, the energy, the sense of adventure, it always worked.

But back then, it was too early. The business world wasn’t ready to see “travel” as a tool for growth and connection.

So the trips ended — and Lincoln Island went quiet for a while.
I transformed it into a newsletter, but something was still missing.

  • Then came Fear & Fail, a journey through the landscapes of fear.

  • Aurora Coworking, an experiment in building communities that support rather than compete.

  • The Glue, which no longer exists, was a network where people learned to inspire each other through stories.

  • Vision of Present, my personal rebellion against the idea that the future holds our happiness.

Each initiative left a trace. Together, they form the map of Lincoln Island — drawn beautifully once by my friend Jernej Gračner.

Still, it didn’t fully click… until now.

Now, after all these years, Lincoln Island inspires me again to take a step forward — a big one.

Starting soon, Lincoln Island will be the premium companion space to Growing Fearless is an Adventure.

It’s where we’ll go deeper together — exploring the six elements through weekly themes, reflections, and conversations.

Each week, we’ll focus on one of the six elements — Purpose, Fearlessness, Community, Influence, Adventure, or Tools — through:

  • A weekly post with insights and highlights from community interactions

  • Anonymous Q&As, so you can ask freely

  • Optional thematic calls (recorded for different time zones)

  • Access to guides, resources, and digital materials at any time

You can engage at your own rhythm — lightly when life is full, or deeply when you want to grow and support others.

Every month, you’ll receive a personal growth tracker with six simple metrics to follow your progress.

You’ll also get worksheets and assessments to reflect on and see how your life evolves.

After six months, you’ll have a dashboard of your own growth — and a community of people who know your journey.

The subscription is €10/month or €100/year — simple, affordable, and sustainable.

I’ve decided not to pursue corporate consulting or spend time chasing projects with companies.

I’m no longer interested in navigating business politics or modern sales protocols.

My work is with individuals who want to grow, and with real communities like Aurora Coworking, where I can witness transformation up close.

That is the path I choose — people over corporations, depth over scale, and truth over appearances.

The island exists in imagination — but what we’ll build together will be very real.

Love,

José
