2025.11.09: TDE R14.1.5 released!

The Trinity Desktop Environment development team is pleased to announce the immediate availability of the TDE R14.1.5 release.

TDE is a free/libre lightweight desktop environment intended for computer users preferring a lean and efficient experience. It is available for various Linux distros, BSD and DilOS. Low on system requirements, it is also an ideal choice for dated hardware, while still providing a fully usable desktop.

R14.1.5 is the fifth maintenance release of the R14.1.x series. Upgrading from R14.1.4 should be straightforward.
The key highlights of this version are:

  • twin: add support for tiling when multiple monitors are in use
  • tqt: fix various event loop handling that caused 100% CPU usage
  • kdesktop: improved stability and prevent situations where the lock would become unresponsive
  • kicker: various aesthetic improvements and new options
  • krdc: add paste command, allowing sending clipboard content as text
  • add support for OpenLDAP 2.5
  • improvements to various TDE-branded icons/pictures/artwork and new Flying Konqi wallpaper
  • tde-style-baghira: add option to center the popup menu
  • tdepim: add support for libgpgme 2.0
  • showfoto: fix application usability

Support for the following distros has changed:

  • Debian: add support for Trixie, drop support for Buster
  • Ubuntu: add support for Questing, drop support for Mantic
  • Add support for RHEL 10 and drop support for Fedora 41
  • Add support for OpenSUSE Leap 16 and drop support for Leap 15.5
