"Currently, it is known that more than 40 aircraft have been hit, including A-50, Tu-95, and Tu-22 M3. For example, one video shows the Belaya airfield burning, and you can hear the voice of SBU Chief Lieutenant General Vasyl Malyuk commenting on the explosion," the sources added.
According to their information, this unique special operation has been named Spiderweb. The enemy aviation has preliminarily been damaged by more than 2 billion dollars.
Downing Russian aircraft
In early May, the Ukrainian Defense Intelligence (HUR) destroyed a Russian Su-30 plane near Novorossiysk using a Magura V5 sea drone. This was the first time in the world.
On the evening of May 3, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian military forces "brilliantly" shot down a Russian military aircraft using a sea drone and destroyed another target with strikes on occupied Crimea.
Additionally, at the end of April, a multipurpose Su-30SM fighter caught fire and burned in Russia. The estimated cost of the destroyed aircraft is 50 million dollars.
