Use the downloadable STL files to print individual components of the Webb Space Telescope on a 3D printer. These components can be assembled to create a full, detailed 3D model of the telescope.

Printable Components

Each of the following 16 components is printed from a separate STL file. 

Lower Portion of the Model

  1. Port (left) boom support for sunshield
  2. Starboard (right) boom support for sunshield
  3. Aft solar array extended
  4. Aft flap mechanism
  5. Aft shield cover portion after deployment
  6. Forward shield cover portion after deployment
  7. Lower Bus Mount (Mount the other six components of the lower portion of the model to the Lower Bus Mount.)

Sunshield Components

  1. Forward section of the sunshield with all five layers combined
  2. Aft section of the sunshield with all five layers combined
  3. Pin connecting the two sunshields parts together (Print four of these.)

Upper Portion of the Model

  1. Primary mirror segments and instruments
  2. Arm with secondary mirror
  3. Starboard arm to secondary mirror
  4. Port arm to secondary mirror
  5. Mount connecting the primary mirror segments and instruments to the arm with the secondary mirror
  6. Mount connecting the port and starboard arms to the primary mirror segments and instruments

Assembly note

We recommend assembling the model in the following order: 1) Lower portion; 2) Sunshield; 3) Upper portion. Once the three sections are complete, connect them together.
