Wrangler 4xe OTA Update (10.10.2025)

Do NOT do the update!! I did the update last night (I’ve only had the Jeep for 6 days, thought it needed updates). This morning I wake up to a YouTube short of someone saying loss of power and don’t do the update, then all the comments of people saying the same thing happened to them.

I go out immediately and take mine for a drive around the block. All seemed fine and then the Jeep shut off and flashed to put it in Park to start it and CEL came in. I coasted to a stop, shifted to park, restarted it and CEL has remained on. I made it back home but everyone take caution with 2024 4xe!

Curious if anyone else is having the issue after the update and what year.

Seems to only impact 24-25s with the uconnect 5 system. Some people have had luck doing a hard reset of the radio (put it in ACC mode by pressing the engine start button with your foot off the brake and then press and hold the power and tune buttons on the radio until it restarts).

From what I have seen, they have turned off the update so it isn't being sent out any more.

From what I have seen, they have turned off the update so it isn't being sent out any more.

I had an update notice when I got home last night, and just shutdown without touching any buttons.

Fortunately, I'd posted my uConnect version in a thread here in August, so I can confirm that it did not apply and I'm still on "FCA-MY24.U37.23-PROD".

Of course, I got the update notice again when I shutdown after checking the version. I touched " update later", but what? Am I gonna have to do that every time I drive it till they figure this out? Ugh.

These things need a sensible update system that let's the owner control scheduling and blacklist unwanted updates. Oh, and maybe include some damn release notes with each version.

#3 · 13h ago

So far it seems to be 2024-2025 years, I have some people saying the ACC reset works.

#17 · 9h ago

Only in part. I lost Uconnect entirely and had to reset it twice to get it back again. Still have the check engine dash light on though.

#4 · 13h ago

I just had to have my 2024 4XE towed to the dealer because it was having problems recognizing the gears, the CEL came on and it wouldn't drive. The dealer called me and said 4 others came in this hour.

Anyone who has experienced this after-update issue, we would like to ensure we have a case open and are tracking the issue on your behalf. Please send a PM with your VIN and contact info, or if you already have a case you can send your case number as well.

Stuck in Indiana 570 miles from home with this issue. 2024 Rubicon 4xe

#12 · 10h ago

Hi everyone,

This is a telematics box module update, not a radio software update; for those who received the update, it will not change that radio software version.

The update was canceled yesterday evening (10/10/25); however, if your vehicle had already downloaded it, even if you have not seen the pop-up screen yet, we do not have a way to cancel that and remove it from your vehicle.

We are continuing to receive information in real time and will post back when we have specific instructions from our engineering teams about exactly what we can do to help everyone.

For those of us that are being prompted to install it, can we defer it in perpetuity or will it eventually install on its own?

#13 · 10h ago

Our current recommendation is to drive in gas mode; please do not choose hybrid or electric mode at this time.

More information to come as we get it.

I went for a drive after you recommended to me earlier that I try gas (eSave) mode. I drove about 20 minutes with no issues, except for the check-engine light staying on. I've got about 570 miles to cover, and hopefully, that will do the trick until there is a permanent fix.

#15 · 9h ago

Gas mode doesn’t change anything. All 3 modes are bricked.

Hey Jeep Care

For one this is super unacceptable. Almost died on the thruway today when it happened and I’m glad it didn’t cause a bigger accident with an 18-wheeler behind me being able at the last minute to shift lanes because my Jeep died, locked its hand brake and jolted so hard my face almost ended up in the steering wheel at 70mph.

Secondly, how, just how, can you send out an update without testing it. An update to a module that if something isn’t right can cause an accident. You’re lucky I’m in no position to sue. I had my family with me and stranded in the middle lane without functioning gas pedal, unable to turn steering since power steering is gone, everything locked up. Stop outsourcing coders overseas and actually have smarter people control updates.

What a joke and I have all the right to be pissed off with what happened to me today. I wish I could get rid of this Jeep right now not be stuck in limbo for days with this issue and believe me I will think twice into getting another Wrangler.

I hope we go back to basics with updates important like this and have to drive to the dealer to do updates so that maybe one or two vehicles are affected by stupidity not thousands. I hope no one dies during this joke of an update!!! Gotta figure it out before someone dies.

#28 · 8h ago

You hit the nail on the head with this post.

#23 · 9h ago

Btw my eSave mode which is gas only option isn’t available it says, stays in Hybrid.

#25 · 9h ago

same, my stopped in the middle of a busy highway. Says I cant send you a message. This sounds like a major lawsuit settlement coming jeeps way

#29 · 8h ago

Everybody affected should report this to NHTSA immediately. We need to hold Jeep and Stellantis accountable. This isn't a joke, somebody could die or be seriously hurt on the road because of what they did and I hope it doesn't happen.

Hoping there's an OTA fix for this since it's basically undrivable in any of the 3 modes. Have appointment with dealership Mon but I can't imagine being able to drive there like this.

#37 · 8h ago

Also. Why the hell are you closed? First you have 20 minute waits just to be told in broken English that systems are being updated and to call back Monday. Or call back during normal business hours. Your support is awful.

Many of us need our vehicles towed to the nearest 4xe dealership and we need rental cars.

This is all because some idiot coder fat fingered something and did not test the update. Most of us have burned up our valuable weekend/free time due to your incompetence!!!!

You’d best have an over air update/fix by tomorrow afternoon or you will be writing checks or filing for bankruptcy.

#75 · 6h ago

Crickets. The silence is deafening JeepCares. I get your “engineers” are working on it. But you’d think they would have a press release by now telling what to do next and when to expect a fix. This is a safety issue.

#40 · 8h ago

Honestly, the fact that another update hasn't been push is incredibly irresponsible. Any other update to software that can possibly lead to safety issues is taken care of within 12 hours - engineers working 24/7 to fix the issue. It's amazing that I've been able to get more information here, Reddit and Facebook than I have the actual company, and that speaks volumes.

#41 · 8h ago

Amen. They horribly incompetent.

#44 · 8h ago

Same thing happened to my 2024. Updated before going into dinner. Didn't make it 100 yards after dinner. Looks like AAA will be called to tow it to the dealer.

#49 · 7h ago

Hi everyone,

We are awaiting further information from our software engineering teams that are currently investigating this issue. I will post here when I have further information.

Earlier today we had success with customers not using hybrid or electric mode. Please exercise extreme caution this evening if you have completed the update. If you have NOT completed the update and see the pop-up, please continue deferring so that the update does not go through. For a telematics box module update, you can defer infinitely, and it will expire within 30 days.

Our expectation is that the dealer network will have documentation available Monday morning for any vehicles that have been towed over the weekend alerting them to next steps (which are still in process of being developed) to ensure that no one is charged for a diagnostic fee.

Thank you to everyone who has provided VINs so far.

I did not select yes but it went through anyway, I have no idea why.

#69 · 6h ago

Is there a way for dealers to roll back the update? I have an appointment with Glendale (CA) Jeep and apparently they had 10 towed in with the same issue just today.

#70 · 6h ago (Edited)

Yes happened to me - Do not drive. To add insult to injury I’m now out $300 after thinking it was just a battery issue.

#71 · 6h ago

I also have this issue on my 2024 Rubicon. I haven’t even owned it a month yet.

Came home from lunch today.

Saw the update popup.

I added the Jeep to my home WiFi and several minutes later it said “done”.

Drove to dinner a few hours later and the dash flashed and said stop, shift to Park, and restart. I did. Restarted. Check engine light came on.
I drove to dinner on eSave mode. Only a mile away. Drove directly home from dinner. No change. Light still on.

Plugged in OBD2 scanner and my JScan app shows P1E1D.

What is the next step for us? Jeep can’t just drop this update on Friday and they go home until Monday…right? I’m shocked the official FCA Mopar 1-888 number is currently closed (it’s after hours). So is their help chat.

In my world this is a “Severity 1” incident and people work the issue until it is resolved.

#73 · 6h ago

Factory reset radio - did not help

Pulled IDCM Fuse & Battery negative terminal - did not help.

I replaced the battery thinking that it fixed the issue; then had my vehicle turn off while driving on the highway and was pinned on the shoulder. So that didn’t work. Then started seeing these posts.

#76 · 6h ago

May be a stupid question, but is there a way to know for sure you did not get the updated. I have auto updates turned off and never got a pop up message asking to update, so hoping that means it did not go through.

#81 · 5h ago

I had the same issue today, I towed it to the nearest dealer. They had no loaners and said the first service appointment is October 20th and they said they might be able to fit in it somewhere. I counted 5 4xe grouped with mine in the parking lot
